Color Climax Magazines
Color Climax Magazines: In this section, you will find nearly every magazine Color Climax Corporation / Rodox Trading produced. In February 2014 we signed a deal with CCCs owner Peter Theander to buy over 6,000 magazines found in the basement of the CCC HQ in Copenhagen. The magazines are in great condition, just like the day they fell off the printing press.
The founding brothers of the Color Climax Corporation / Rodox Trading, Peter and Jens Theander, ran a secondhand bookshop in central Copenhagen. In 1966 hardcore pornography was illegal throughout the world but public opinion in Denmark was becoming liberal towards sexual freedom. To fulfill the under-the-counter demand for hardcore pornography a number of young entrepreneurs started making magazines; these early hardcore magazines were quite crudely made and were printed in black and white. Peter and Jens were already selling legal softcore magazines from their bookshop but they were frequently being asked if they could get their hands on the illegal hardcore porn magazines. It wasn't long before Peter and Jens were selling hardcore mags from under-the-counter. Many of the early magazines were also produced in Sweden which was a very short boat trip from Malmo to Copenhagen.
Peter and Jens found the magazines were "selling like hotcakes" and were frustrated that demand far exceeded supply. In 1966 they decided to have a go at producing their own magazines. From the Theander family home the young men produced their own hardcore pornography and their first magazines went on sale from their bookshop, these early magazines were black and white and very few of them exist today. The boys soon turned their attention to producing a colour magazine, Berth Milton of Private claimed to be the first publisher of a hardcore color magazine in 1966 but early Private magazines were very tame. Peter and Jens went further and produced a complete hardcore colour porn mag called Color Climax in 1967, alongside the title ran individually numbered magazines each with a different title; we have hundreds of the early magazines in this section.
